When British explorer Captain Cook landed in the islands in 1778, he may have carried with him the Original Rules of Golf from the Royal and Ancient Saint Andrews, the golf Mecca of the world.
And the poor fellow had to introduce both the rules and the game to the Hawaiian monarch King Kamehameha.
